Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for Manchester United’s Angel Gomes this summer.
The 19-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and has so far turned down offers of an extension.
The Red Devils are understood to have offered him a deal worth a reported £25,000-a-week to keep him at the club.
The Metro claim that Chelsea are ready to capitalise on the situation and snap up the youngster.
Gomes is understood to be frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities that he’s had at United this season.
He has made just six appearances while the likes of Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Brandon Williams have seen significantly more action.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to match United’s contract offer, but will also offer him a place in the first-team squad for next season.
Gomes is widely considered to be a bright young talent and captained England Under-19s to World Cup success in 2018.
Chelsea have shown a willingness to throw their youngsters in at the deep end with players like 18-year-old Billy Gilmour the most recent example of this.
United will still be hopeful of getting Gomes to put pen-to-paper on fresh new terms – as they did with Chong earlier in the week.
The 20-year-old penned a two-year extension to end talk of him leaving at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
